The Periodontal and Implant Associates of Greater Washington are currently accepting new patients, and we would like to invite you to our practice. Our intention is to make your dental appointment as simple, stress-free, and convenient as possible. Here are some resources to help you navigate your first appointment.
The initial appointment provides an opportunity to discuss issues of concern and a time for the patient and doctor to become acquainted. Please feel free to ask all questions that you may have. We welcome and encourage our patients to take an active role in their therapy and we will make every attempt to keep you fully informed throughout the course of your treatment.
One thing that sets Dr. Rose apart from other periodontists is his commitment to leaving medical and dental care decisions up to the patient. Instead of scheduling an appointment for you and telling you what you need to have done, Dr. Rose will discuss your options and let you make the final call. However, this is not to say that Dr. Rose isn’t thorough and precise. Here is Dr. Rose has to say about the importance of initial examinations:
“In my practice, I find examination and consultations to be the most important duties,” says Dr. Rose. “These are often neglected, but it is crucial to perform them thoroughly and well. One cannot treat well if the diagnostic, treatment planning and consultation processes are not diligently performed. I strive to be not just competent, but responsive, responsible and trustworthy!” –Dr. Karl A. Rose
In order to treat your dental condition as efficiently as possible, your first visit with Dr. Rose will include collecting your medical and dental history. In addition to looking over the information you have provided, Dr. Rose and his hygienists will carefully examine your teeth and x-ray images. After reviewing your medical and dental history and receiving a comprehensive clinical examination, Dr. Rose will recommend a treatment plan for your dental needs.
If time allows before your first appointment, you will receive an informative brochure and medical/dental history forms shortly after you call us to make your initial appointment. By completing the forms prior to coming to the office, our intention is to have you seeing the doctor shortly after you walk in the door. Reading the brochure will familiarize you with our practice and office. Like this website, it will address many of the questions you may have prior to seeing us. All of the information that is contained in the brochure, and forms equivalent to those that you would receive in the mail, are available on this Web Site. You can complete your forms via this Web Site and E-mail them to us (New Patient Information Forms) if you prefer doing so, or, you don't receive the forms in the mail.
You may preregister with our office by filling out our secure online new patient information forms. After you have completed the form, please make sure to press the Submit button at the bottom to automatically send us your information. On your first visit to our office, we will have your completed form available for your signature. The security and privacy of your personal data is one of our primary concerns and we have taken every precaution to protect it.
The Periodontal and Implant Associates of Greater Washington offer a wide variety of payment options, including most major credit cards, cash, and checks. Since dentistry expenses can often be expensive and unexpected, we are also willing to make custom financial arrangements with you. Before we do any work, you will be provided with an estimate of the costs, so that you can make the best decision for your situation. If you aren’t sure whether or not your insurance plan is accepted at our office or what your coverage provides, our office administrators would be happy to talk with your insurance company to sort things out. At the Periodontal and Implant Associates of Greater Washington, we are here to serve you.
Dental insurance is intended to provide you money to pay for a portion of your dental treatment expenses.
Dental Insurance is intended to cover a portion of your dental treatments. The amount of coverage depends on the individual contract your employer or union has with the insurance carrier. In most cases, you are responsible for a deductible and the portion of the fee not covered by your contract.
Our trained staff will provide you with the necessary forms, supporting letters and other pertinent documentation that is required for you to submit your insurance claims for reimbursement. We ask that you collect your reimbursement from your insurance company, while we remain focused on providing the best dental treatments possible.
The amount of money provided depends on the specific contract that you, your employer or union established with the insurance carrier.
Usually, contracts have an annual maximum benefit (commonly ranging from $750 to $2,000). That is, the insurance company reimburses you, to the defined maximum amount, during the year that the contract is in force. These payments are in accordance with certain, specified modifying factors.
The amount of money provided by insurance companies depends on the contract that you have with the insurance carrier.
Factors that modify how much reimbursement you may receive are often numerous, and sometimes complex. One common modifying factor is the Deductible. The Deductible is the amount of treatment expense that you must pay, personally, before your carrier starts issuing benefits.
The title, UCR Fee implies that the fee that the insurance company will render for a service represents the appropriate cost of the treatment. However, in our experience, and in the experiences of most other practitioners with whom we speak, this is usually not the case. Insurance companies are in business to profit from the sale of their products and provide their stockholders dividends. Inherent to this end is a need to make their UCR Fees as low as possible without making their product commercially unattractive. Thus, the disparity between private practice fees and UCR Fees.
Unfortunately, the ultimate consumer - you - can not obtain UCR Fee schedules (in most states) when shopping for coverage prior to enrolling, or while being enrolled, in an insurance plan. This is the case with medical, as well as dental insurance. This can be changed if consumers demand that their legislators make it mandatory that UCR Fee schedules be made available.
Our commitment to high quality, patient oriented care is second to none. We consider preserving your privacy to be part of that goal. Periodontal and Implant Associates of Greater Washington is happy to comply with the HIPAA Privacy Rule. You can learn more about your right to privacy here.
Dr. Karl "Tony" Rose
Dr. Karl Anthony (Tony) Rose knew that he wanted to be a dentist from an early age, when he became fascinated with dentistry’s intersection between biological, chemical, and medical science. Dr. Rose went on to earn a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Maryland, and then to complete his DDS degree there too. After dental school, Dr. Rose practiced General Dentistry for the United States Air Force, which was excellent training for his periodontology training, which he received next.
