As a practice administrator, Robin Schneider fills a variety of roles. She manages patients’ insurance issues, makes financial arrangements, and schedules and checks out patients. As the practice’s Study Club Coordinator, she plans and facilitates Dr. Rose’s Study Clubs including the local Seattle Study Club Chapter and a Hygiene Study Club (providing continuing education programs, for dentists and hygienists in the DC Metro area).
A Baltimore, MD native, Robin graduated from Syracuse University, where she received a Master’s degree in Social Work. She took a job at the University of Maryland Dental School doing research studies and educating students about caring for special needs patients. The dental field claimed her for its own - as Robin says: "My career chose me! I love building relationships with patients, learning about their backgrounds, and hearing their stories."
When Robin isn’t handling daily operations with aplomb (you mean eating a plum! - correct), she’s spending time with her adult twin children (one son and one daughter); baking; reading; or traveling (she loves the beach.) She also spends one week every summer volunteering at Circle Camps for Grieving Children in Sweden, Maine – a weeklong overnight camp program for children who have experienced the loss of a parent.
Margaret Wakeman, a practice administrator, was born and raised in London, but has lived in the greater DC area for over thirty years. With a lifelong interest in healthcare /medicine and 33 years of experience in the industry, she is an invaluable member of our practice team. Margaret says her main strength is her ability to multitask: “I can handle six things at once and be kind and friendly even under challenging circumstances,” she says. She loves working with Dr. Rose, describing him as “honest, progressive and an excellent teacher,” and enjoys sharing camaraderie with her co-admin, Robin.
When Margaret isn’t handling patient scheduling, finances, and other administrative duties with professionalism and ease, she’s supporting beloved causes (mostly humane animal and environmental). She also loves history, languages, visiting art museums and historical buildings, walking in natural surroundings, dancing, and anything to do with food.
As a dental assistant, Evelyn Wilson prepares rooms for patient treatments, greets patients, order supplies, exposes x-rays and CT scans, and assists Dr. Rose with various procedures. Evelyn says when she was a US Army spouse she had to go to the dentist many times for cavities, since she grew up in an area with unflouridated water. “The dentist was able to also fix the gap between my teeth – and I didn’t even know they could do that,” she says. “I’m a walking billboard for what good dentistry can achieve!” Inspired to learn more about dentistry, Evelyn completed Dental Assisting I and II and was an honor graduate from Medix School. Today, she has 18+ years in the industry, and says what she loves most about her job is seeing the finished results for people who thought they could never have nice teeth and now have a beautiful smile.
Formerly from Brandon, Mississippi, Evelyn now lives in Baltimore, Maryland. When she’s not helping others achieve their dental dreams, Evelyn is riding her Suzuki Boulevard or spending time cooking out with family and friends – she loves eating crab cakes, steamed crabs and fries. Her two granddaughters are the “loves of her life”, and Evelyn donates to Ruth’s House and Roberta House (a local organization that offered grief counseling when her daughter passed away.)
As a clinical dental assistant, Lia Periera’s responsibilities lie mostly chair-side. She assists Dr. Rose with routine care of patients, and makes sure patients are always comfortable. Originally from Brazil, Lia now makes her home in Sterling, VA. She achieved an AA degree from NVCC, and has been in the industry nearly 18 years. When asked why she chose a career in dentistry, Lia responds: “It’s a good field for helping others, and I love to take care of others!”
Lia also describes herself as reliable and friendly, and says she loves working at PIAGW because it’s a fun environment, with great people offering high quality care to their patients. When Lia isn’t chair-side, helping making patients’ lives better, she’s spending time traveling, swimming and exercising. Her passions are music and the ocean. She also supports The Veterans Lupus Foundation and WGTS 91.9.
As a dental hygienist, Lynn Jarrard performs all phases of periodontal hygiene services for our patients. Formerly from Washington, DC, Lynn now lives in Germantown, MD. She has 30 years in the dental industry, with an AA in both Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. Lynn chose dentistry as a career because she likes helping people stay healthy; enjoys working with Dr. Rose because “in this practice, people get healthy and stay that way!”; and declares that the job is perfect for her because she is “devoted to patient care”.
When Lynn isn’t providing care or teaching patient’s about their oral health, she’s indulging her many hobbies: gardening, cycling, water color painting, jewelry making and spending time in nature with her dog and her granddaughter. She actively supports the Girl Scouts, the Humane Society, Second Chance Wildlife and the Leukemia Foundation.
Periodontal disease affects approximately 70-80% of adults. 3 out of 4 people become affected by periodontal disease at some time in their life.Request an Appointment
